Remove messenger from XP

By Ryan McFarland in Scripts 2 Comments »

If you’re using Trillian or some other bit of software on your XP machine and hate that MSN instant messenger pops up in the taskbar you can easily remove it. Just press “start” then select “run” and then put this in the field “RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove” and press “OK”.

Firefox

Internet Explorer is unsafe. Firefox isn’t perfect but it is a lot better. If you’re using IE then there should be a box floating in the bottom right of the screen when you load my page. To make it go away you just need to install and use Firefox! Anyone that wants to add the Firefox reminder to the IE users that visit their site need only copy and paste this code into your site (or site template) just before the </body> line near the bottom of your code.

I finally completed entering odd holidays to the holiday script that i use to show some strange daily celebrations. And being the nice guy that i am i will share it with the world. I did not write the initial script but i did spend a few hours searching for holidays and adding them to the script. All you need to do is copy the text from this file into your html template where you’d like it to show up.

“Terror” level

Add the current terrorism threat level to your site. The below samples
are showing the actual current terror threat - as is the example to the
left. You have three sizes to choose from:

large 212×72

medium 168×50

and small 110×26

All you need to do is paste this code into your site:

and replace "medium" with "small" or "large", define the image’s height and width. (Right click on the image and select "properties" to find its dimensions. I listed the dimensions of the images above.)

Every day should be a holiday

By Ryan McFarland in Scripts 2 Comments »

I think it was after last year’s Talk Like a Pirate Day that my fascination grew for odd celebrations. After I found a list of silly events, i wanted some way to have them posted on my website so when I opened my browser that day’s celebration would be shown. I finally found a script that lets me do it.
