Pictionary second edition. New in the wrapper and everything. 50 cents. Note the sleeveof my poncho. Mike got that for me in Mexico while he was back home.

I’ll admit that i have had my eye on this game for a few years. I think it was about $25 new but i just couldn’t bring myself to pay that much – even though it combines two inexplicable collections: Dr Seuss stuff and random games. Got it for 50 cents. one of the packets of questions was opened but the playing pieces and the other half are still in the packaging.

This was a game i have ever seen before. A balancing game for 2-4 players. Neat. And also 50 cents.

Then i spotted this Mickey Mouse phone. I thought it was cool. But i shelled out $15 for it!

ON Sunday Earl and i went to breakfast together… it was his birthday. Then he suggested we hit a garage sale. I bought two VHS tapes and a few DVDs…

A BMX movie with Nicole Kidman? How did i miss this in my childhood? Just $1.

I have the second movie on DVD and have been wanting to watch the first for a while. $1 for the VHS seemed worth it.

For $5 i got this DVD. I don’t need the case – i have plenty. Batman Begins was pretty darn good. Sure it didn’t have the Heath Ledger edge that everyone seemed to love so much, but it blew away most of the previous Batman movies.

A certain friend tends to send me the most obscure sci fi movies. I hope he doesn’t have all 50 of these! $10 for 50 “movies?” Sold!

Saturday thrifting finds

I just couldn’t pass up this book from the Salvation Army. I’ve started reading it too so prepare to be influenced!

At least one of these will become a belt. What a pleasant reminder to eat less. Picked them up for 50 cents at a rummage sale.

This was $5 at the Salvation Army but i just couldn’t pass it up. Nice analog gauges to display the wind direction and velocity.

Sony NR-335

I picked up this Sony NR-335 noise reduction adapter at the salvation Army. It seems to be in really great shape except for some discoloration on the top. There are some minor nicks in the case but all the lights work and the buttons function well. I picked it up thinking i would gut it and install something else… an alarm clock, a dvd player, anything to take advantage of the retro look. But then i saw that people are auctioning the owners manual for these for $15-25 on eBay. I see the unit listed online between $50 and $125 plus shipping.

I’ll sell mine for $75 plus shipping. If you’re content with receiving it fairly slowly i’ll mail it parcel post for another $10. If you want it quickly then it will go first class for $25. I live in Alaska so the slow method literally will be on the slow barge and the fast method will be on a jet. Leave a comment here if interested.

Don is in town for the funeral of Michael Weeks. One thing don and i do often is go to the thrift store. We hit Salvation Army and i bought a small pile of these Alaska Marine Highway place mats. Since there are only three boats listed, it is probably from the mid 1960s. Click on the thumbnail for the full size scan (i had to make two scans and cobble them together). The large image makes a neat desktop background.
