Family fun
We’ve done a lot of stuff with Rachel and her kids (Courtney, Ruby, and Gage) over the past six months. They have played in Jordan’s tree fort, come over for tacos, home made pizzas, and many other meals, played plenty of wii games, gone sledding, had snowball fights, and played games and with Lego. Last …
Standing desk
I have tried using an exercise ball to improve my posture at work in the past. I still slouch. I’ve tried all the tips that ergonomic experts put out there but still revert to a hunched posture. So I whipped up a standing desk for less than $30. I also brought my gym shoes to …
Game On
I’m doing a diet. I’ve tried a few before. But this one is different. It’s a group thing and is cooperative and competitive. It’s the Game On diet. First off – if you’re thinking I don’t need to be on a diet – thank you. But you’re wrong. I actually went to the clinic and …
Basketball Hoop and the Car
This picture is from Pepper’s phone. Last Sunday we went to the dump to see if any goodies were available for salvage and found this entire basketball backboard, post, and rim. The rim is a little bent but I’ve salvaged three others in the past few months. It looks like the post was cut at …
Shishka eating celery
Shishka ate quite a bit of celery leaf. Which is kind of funny because she’s the skinniest of the cats in this house!
Readymade 100 Contest
Sometimes I get a little narrow in my focus for my projects. I’m the first to admit that a good contest is the best way to give me motivation to get an idea turned into something tangible. Yes, NEED is also a really good way too. Like the desk I built or the dining room …
Lobster dinner
We went to the Elk’s Lodge for dinner with Jerod and Melinda Cook last night. The ladies had lobster and the men had prime rib. It was delicious! (Well, I heard the lobster was delicious.)
Basket out of a tape measure
I salvaged about 75 feet of a metal tape measure a month or two ago from the dump. This morning I was feeling crafty so tried to weave with it but gave up after a little while. That’s when Pepper stepped in and she spent the next hour making this basket. I need to rivet …
GIA 1116032280
Last year I did my research when I decided to buy an engagement ring. Living in a fairly remote area of Alaska it was a little difficult to buy what I had in mind. I had originally wanted to buy something other than a diamond. Or buy a conflict-free diamond. I read once that the …
Happy about her wristies
pepper’s wishlist included a portable vacuum, food processor, Alaskan IPA hooded sweatshirt, passport photos, and wrist warmers. There were more things – like boot polish, there were more puzzles she could have gotten, and other gifts. But she did well overall!
