They make it difficult to type! As you can see, i’m doing a little catch-up on the old blog here today. I have other thingsthat i want to do too - like laundry and a little crafty stuff. But these cats are cuddled up with me. Ollie is on the chair next to me and Hex on the next one. It would be a good time to vacuum the bedroom upstairs too. Sometimes we’re slaves to our cats!
I also have my new electric stove running at my feet! Thank you Cena!
Irony: I was just asked for permission to use one of my Flickr photos

Just hours after warning about the potential for a flood of incorrect attribution of Flickr photos, i received this message on Flickr.
I love your “waiting in seattle“shot!
Hi Ryan,
I am a writer for the popular personal finance & frugal living site Wise Bread. I am putting together an article on passport photos and would love to use your shot as the header. I will of course provide proper attribution, credit, and a link.
If there is any problem please let me know and I’ll remove the shot. I expect it to be published within a week.
Thank you in advance!
Nora DunnI actually had never been to Wise Bread until just yesterday when Consumerist linked to one of their articles.
Flickr users: brace for unauthorized use of your photos
By Ryan McFarland in Photography No Comments »I pointed out before that Consumerist has featured photos of mine in the past. As a pagerank 7 website those incoming links are great for my site. I specify in my Flickr photo descriptions that credit has to be given to zieak.com and Ryan McFarland. Unfortunately, a new plugin for Wordpress has been released that will allow any blogger to easily insert Flickr photos of any user that has an open Creative Commons license right into their blog posts. The PhotoDropper plugin automatically adds credit to the photographer by grabbing the user name and linking to the Flickr profile. No consideration for any special instructions will be made by anyone using this plugin. I think the plugin serves a wonderful purpose. I just really would like credit passed to my site instead of Flickr.

Last night I had a meeting in town. On my way to it just before 7 there were people on the roof of First Bank shoveling it off. Almost two hours later these two impressive piles of snow flanked the bank entrance. They were gone this morning. Winds are supposed to pick up tonight and the wind chill is supposed to dip to 20 below. Watch the weather page for some fun numbers! Also, Saturday we’re supposed to get up to two feet of snow. I’ll post some pictures of the house to show we don’t need it.
