Kevin sent me this link to a Coldplay freebie. I’ve actually been listening to more Coldplay lately than ever before. It helps that it is on the same mp3 disc as the Beastie Boys and Breakbeat Era. I’m downloading it now so can’t say if i like it or not yet…
8-Bit’s song “Fake I-deez” is about robot’s unable to do “adult” things like buy cigarettes or go into strip clubs because they can’t get an ID. One part of the lyrics… “gettin’ drunk on Tecate that a human bought me” and “chillin’ in the casino because they forgot to card me”. So we each have 24 oz. of Tecate and are chilling in our room in the casino.
I enter sweepstakes and order freebies. Every now and they a really good freebie hits. We received a CD today totally free. If you act by the end of the month you can get one too.
Go to the Zantac site that is giving compilation CDs away. Pick your titl and enter a Zantac UPC from a box of Zantac. (If you look online you can probably find one.) A few weeks later the CD arrives!
About two weeks ago a new CD appeared (audiophonically appeared that is) in my car. I had been enslaving Earl to help with some work projects since he was between jobs – or, as i like to call it “underemployed.” So we dug post holes and assembled bleachers and painted dugouts with this mystery CD playing 9 tracks repeatedly. A few songs stand out from it though. Oh – and the CD was from a friend of Cena & Bailee that promotes bands so it is a mixture of stuff.
The Beats, Man have a catchy tune called Beats Mand of Horses with a chorus of two fellows yelling at each other “get your horses out of my garage! get your cars out of my horse stable!” It turns out that one of our other favorites from the CD is also by them — Freedomtown. In listening to their myspace profile page songs i also really dig the song I Don’t Like Noise Bands.
Their stuff is sort of punky and electronic too. Don’t ask me about musical genres though.
Sometime in the early 80s i was in a record store in the Eastview mall (actually it seems like it was in Sears but i don’t remember them selling music). Mom was trying to sing part of a song that we were trying to buy on tape. The employee had no idea what song it was. Thanks to the internet we can now just do a quick search. I didn’t even know any of the lyrics. But fortunately the song made someones list of the best space songs ever. Enjoy. And mom, the artist is Peter Shilling and the song is Major Tom. It was a follow-up to a David Bowie song that had a less happy ending.
Trent Reznor has been angry about the industry for a long time. I don’t know if it is true but a friend told me back in the early 90’s that Pretty Hate Machine was not a breakup album. “Head like a hole, black as your soul, I’d rather die, than give you control” is about his record label’s control over him.
Regardless, Trent has released a 36 song album that is available to download for $5. That comes to under $0.14 per track compared with $0.99 for each track on iTunes. And the music is DRM free so you are not limited in how many devices it will play on or how many times you burn it.
Sounds good right? Even better, he is offering the first nine tracks for free. Just give an email address and you get the download link.
It has been a while since i listened to any Nine Inch Nails stuff but the first minute of the streaming music was good enough for me to try the free download. And for $5 i just might end up buying the whole album. If for no other reason than to show support for the low price and the model he has set.
We watched Truckasaurus play last night (i met up with Bailee). They had me hooked when they played their second song – an homage to Airwolf. Their visuals even included video from the show.
This guy bounced the samples like a – oh forget the metaphors or simalies. He’s good.
I have wanted a few good alarms on my phone. Seems like a few of these military bugle calls would be perfect. I prefer my ring tone to be that of an old rotary phone so waking up to reveilee would be great.
