I was clearing out junk mail from one of my rarely used email accounts and there was an announcement from the Boy Scouts of America in there. They are calling for entries for a design contest to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the organization in the United States. Participants must be in scouting and have to be a youth in the organization. The 100th anniversary is in February 2010.

Sheesh. It is contest season i guess. I was working on tracking down hotels for Seattle and Anchorage and saw in a pop-up ad on Trip Advisor that they are running a contest that is a trip a year for 10 years. You have to sign up for an account with Trip Advisor. I’ve read reviews of hotels on there for years so i guess it is a good excuse to join and contribute. According to the official rules “you will automatically receive one entry for each new or existing TripAdvisor member you directly invite to join your network and who both accepts the invitation and creates his/her own travel map.”

I was booking a rental car for a trip to Anchorage and saw on the Alaska Airlines website that they are running a new sweepstakes. Their 75 and Sunny sweepstakes will give away a 2008 Pontiac Solstice, 75 vacation packages, and 75,ooo miles for one winner each day. If that’s not worth the time how about $5?
