Pepper and Jordan are moved in
I’m a bit behind on blog entries. So a few posts may be scattered around a bit…
On Labor Day the whole house was sleeping in a little when we woke to a phone call. It was Alaska Marine Lines informing me we had 2,600 pounds of freight to pick up. The shipment from Pepper’s move from China!
She used a service for some moving help. Everything arrived in great condition – it probably helped that they used a heck of a lot of packing paper and bubble wrap.
They even wrapped her wooden furniture with bubble wrap and then made custom boxes with cardboard and tape to wrap them.
Two stone pieces had crates made for them. And crates were also made to contain a large collection of framed artwork.
I’ve moved a number of times across the country, but never with a professional moving service before. Certainly one benefit is that you can get a bunch of identically sized boxes to pack in.
(We later gave a bunch of boxed to Rachel to use to move to a new place in town so they have gotten a few uses and their fair share of miles!)
It took us all day to get the six pallets to the house, unwrapped, moved in and things pretty much put in place. We still have many pictures to put on the walls – we just need more walls to do that!
