A happy face for a great visit
We had a great Chinese New Year, saw some amazing sights in Shanghai and Harbin, Pepper got to meet Kevin… it was a really amazing trip. Lots of reasons to smile!
Family shot at the Shanghai airport
The day that i left Shanghai we got Kevin off in a taxi to the airport early in the morning. Then about mid-day we went and picked up Jordan from his sleep-over party before heading to the airport.
First wall in the living room after painting
Here is the color finished up. I painted with a roller and a hand brush for cutting in around the edges. The paint color is “Sierra Madre” by Ace. I am actually pretty happy about how the wall looks after my patching – there are very few spots that show any of the previous wear.
First wall in the living room before painting
Pepper and i picked out some colors to paint the living room and dining area walls while she was here for Christmas. For a few months i have been intending to fix up the drywall and then paint. At one point i had decided to hire someone to touch up the sheet rock because i …
This is 440 Coke points
On Sunday I picked up Orin and we ran to the dump to drop off our cardboard recycling. I spied a substantial stack of 12 pack boxes and nabbed the Coke product ones. They have a 10 code per week limit, so it will take me a few weeks to get these all entered.

A mysterious tube arrived in my mail a few weeks ago. I popped off one end and found perforated poster pages… it was my copy of Rainy Day Activities by Wild Pansy Press. This is the third publication that i have had a project published in and the first book that required some assembly! The …
Thick foam-soled sandals for indoor use
Last year we ordered some new gymnastics mats at work. We also ordered a few pieces of equipment from the same company and the springboard was boxed up and used some scrap mat padding to protect the item in shipping. I took the scraps home instead of throwing them out and all winter a strip …
Transparent document folders from keyboard circuit sheets
It is definitely not a surprise that i love using the flexible circuit sheets from inside computer keyboards. I have made wallets and sleeves for CDs or DVDs with them and even a checkbook cover. I noticed that Pepper uses these transparent envelopes to haul student essays and tests as well as to keep travel …
Sunny and then snowy Sunday
I tried to sleep in on Sunday. But it was too nice out. Ollie wanted to just lounge in the sun. But I went to the landfill and salvaged a few things. I grabbed some aluminum, a metal wheelbarrow basin, some wooden slats from an Ikea bunkbed frame, and metal reflective flashing used on flourescent …
