Maybe get a blister on your thumb

Originally uploaded by zieak

Two days of painting gave me a blister on my thumb. We still need to do the yellow dugouts tomorrow. This afternoon Earl helped me hang the last bit of art at the pool (after he helped paint).

Cena, Lynsey, Earl and I took second place at trivia tonight by one point. We got hats as prizes. Third place was a point behind us. It was a close ending but we were dead last for quite a while.

The sun on Monday was fantastic.

Caught red handed

Originally uploaded by zieak

I’ve been working my tail off. My hand is red from paint splattering off the roller while painting two of the ball field dugouts today. Earl helped. Yesterday I finished up installing metal roofing on two of the dugouts. I also cleaned up a full car load of scrap wood from around the new concessions building.

Monday (Memorial Day) I worked on things at the house. I painted the horseshoe pit covers, pressure washed and tidied our side porch, sanded and stained a stool, and did as much as possible out in the sun.

Sunday we had a BBQ. Ryan, Sarah, Mitch, Lynsey, Seth, Coconut, Josh, Katie, CJ, Will, and Earl were all over and played horseshoes, drank beer, grilled, and sat around a fire in the evening.

Saturday I had Earl help me finish putting railings on bleachers and start putting metal roofing on one dugout. Then I whipped up some new window displays for Lux and we went to a wedding that evening.

Friday Earl helped me work on bleacher assembly until I had to go to help one of the artists for the pool project hang her work over the bleachers. We had a quiet(ish) finger food Friday.

Twice now I have cleaned out annoying comments from “bobby the kid” that make a bunch of references to pie. I thought it was just a spammer until i saw this comment (emphasis added by me):

pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie i dont like you ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…

Whoa. Someone doesn’t like me! Well, i’ve grown up enough that i don’t really care if people like me or not. But that doesn’t keep me from being curious about who it is that doesn’t like me. They use the email address aidansoguero@gmail.com in the comment field. No results came up doing a search on Google for that address.  The name Aidan Soguero doesn’t ring a bell or come up with much on a search either.  Their IP address is 74.211.54.138 which is on Orange Broadband in Utah, New Mexico and Colorado.  That address might be coming out of Cortez, Colorado.

Checked bags full of copper

Yesterday afternoon Kevin and I stripped wire and piled up the copper and brass that i’ve been collecting. We loaded two bags using the bathroom scale to make sure we didn’t have over 50 pounds in either. You can check two bags and carry on one and Kevin packed everything he brought in a carry-on.

We checked him in for the flight and one bag weighed 47 pounds and the other 38. The TSA employyes grabbed them off the scale and when the woman opened the first for inspection I saw her reach in and heard the copper pipes rattle. She looked over her shoulder with a very confused look and said “you guys!” I laughed out loud. She asked if we were making a still and I laughed some more. Then I told her it’s worth up to $3 per pound and she looked at the bag and said we had 47 pounds worth.

it was a great idea to haul that back… Thanks Kevin!

The price of bacon salt
