It started years ago and i’m sure i didn’t attend the first one. Seth had me over to his apartment when he lived a few levels above the Homestead Restaurant. It must have been 2003ish. He moved to near the ferry terminal and the space was a little larger. We met there or at the bed and breakfast that the Hjorts owned. When they moved to Hawaii it settled on Seth’s place. Then last year he moved in with us before moving into his cabin. Ever since, Finger Food Fridays has been at our place most weeks. Sometimes at Levy’s on the Beachcomber deck. Sometimes at another place if someone is house sitting.
It doesn’t happen every Friday.
The faces have changed over the years too. Originally definitely a Norquest group with anchors of Seth and Levy. During the B&B days there was Stacy and Shelly, Richard, and Rory. At Seth’s Cena and I became regulars as did Ailis. Moving to our house Josh, Mike, Earl and Mitch became regulars. Many others have come on occasion depending on who hosted, how big the celebration was, and what the theme was. Beth, Sara, Marina, Ryan, Rachel, Crescent, Elizabeth and Orin… the list could go on a while. Some people still come if they are in town like Karine.
We have themes often also. Sometimes it is a theme for the food — mexican, asian, texan or bacon. The food isn’t always finger food and sometimes we have so much we wish we had an Electric Warming Tray to help keep the leftovers warm for the stragglers. Sometimes a theme for the props and outfits like thrift store finds, mustaches, crazy hats, 80’s night, or some unique gifts for a birthday. Other times there are games planned like beer pong or poker.
Every single time is a blast.
