Our resolution is to become completely debt free this year (well, except for mortgages). We’ve been doing quite well even though we’re only two weeks into the year. We’ve both set up budgets that allow us to make huge payments on our loans. My budget does not include income from the bike shop, DJing, web design, or the miscellaneous stuff i do for a few bucks here and there. (Like shirt designs, paid blog posts, Amazon sales, and other stuff.) We’ve been doing frugal grocery shopping, have only ate out by using a gift certificate (thanks mom and dad!), and have been staying home and using the many entertainment sources we have here already instead of going out. If we really keep to it and don’t get hit by taxes too hard this year then we should be able to be debt free by August. By the end of the year we should have a large emergency fund and be able to go on a nice vacation to celebrate financial independence. We have temporarily abandoned our extremely aggressive mortgage payment schedule in an effort to eliminate all other personal debt. We’ll get back to that this fall though! If you’re interested in getting into debt feel free to clock on any of the links in this post for some “cheap loans” according to the advertiser.

I am a big fan of Dave Ramsey, and his “debt snowball”. It seems a bit daunting at first, but it really has worked out for us in cutting debt significantly. Congrats on debt reduction. it is a good feeling.
