One of our cats got frostbite
Ollie got frostbite some time just before Kevin arrived on the 22nd. His ear tips were black so i thought maybe he had been under some car or truck and gotten oily. Closer inspection showed that one of his ear tips was actually blistered and both had a deep red hue with the black. Then i thought maybe his ear tips had been shut in a door – but he’s too quick for something like that. Last night it looked like his body was about ready to reject one of those ear tips. This morning when he came in his left ear was shorter by about a half inch and had a bloody edge. Poor guy. His stubby tail and nicks in his ears already made him look pretty rough but now he’s going to have two lopped off ears.
I know he’s been outside for some cold spells before and i don’t recall him being outside overnight or for more than a normal day at work but this is the first year in quite a few that he hasn’t had a cat door to come and go as he pleases. Our house sitter told us that he disappeared for a few days (he was almost skinny when we came back from our trip!) so i hope it didn’t happen then.

my female cat snuck outside and took off and she was gone almost a week and when we finally found her one of her ears was bent over the other was fine this was a week ago she came back now and yesterday part of her ear fell off i was wondering what to do about it is it good the infected ear fell off?
It has been a year and both of Oliver’s ear tips fell off quite a while ago. He seems to have no difficulties or annoyances about his clipped ears. Your cat should heal just fine!
