2007 - the year in review

I thought it would be nice to summarize 2007 for me. A highlight of the big events of the year - the milestones if you will.

Travel - I did more travel this year than any other. I came within a few thousand miles of reaching MVP Gold on Alaska Airlines (considering most of the trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Bali didn’t count that’s pretty good). Aside from the recent trip to Southeast Asia i also did a drive across country with my brother. I had work trips that took me to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Ketchikan, Sitka, Anchorage, and Valdez. (The Ketchikan and Sitka trips were paid for by SEAtrails and the other trips were partially paid for by ARPA.) Cena and i also took a vacation to Arizona. While my parents were up visiting we made a quick trip to Juneau and Skagway. While Tim was up we made a trip to Juneau as well.

Projects - My shopping cart and bicycle combination won a prize and made the rounds on the internet and landed me in a few print publications including a Colorado newspaper, a magazine in Italy, and an Australian Magazine. Our Halloween party decorations earned a few prizes. And my bike wheel and crutch stool took the grand prize in a mash up contest.

Moon Lighting - My career as a DJ seems to have died off. I’m no longer playing music during the off season at the bars but still am getting regular wedding and party gigs. Cena bought Pangea and made it into her Lux Boutique. I can’t really claim much credit for the store but i do help out every now and then. Mike Tozzo and i bought the local bike shop and started Zoom Bikes where i’m a silent (and mostly invisible) partner who deals with sales tax and the bills. My web design work spiked earlier this year and has slumped enough for me to start thinking about trying to finish up some long outstanding projects. next year.

Finances - Paid off my Suzuki Grand Vitara. Refinanced Cena’s house in my name (she’s still on the title though) to buy her business. Nibbled away at my accumulated personal debt despite having a horrible tax payment due. Finished the apartment enough to have Beth move in and now Brian is renting the place. Their rent payments have paid for the improvements that we made.

Home Improvements - The apartment was an ordeal. Everything from sheet rock and crown molding to a new washer and dryer connection was completed. A kitchen sink installed, cabinets and counter top, even a small wall built for the separation. Tim helped with much of it during his vacation in May and once he moved up for the summer. On our side of the house i changed our heat to a monitor (same for the apartment) and we painted the landing.
