With my recent frequent travel i have not been in Petersburg for a full weekend since the second week of September. Last weekend Cena played music for Karsten and Kellie’s wedding reception. This Saturday she’s going to play for the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce 3rd annual Brewfest (and chowder feed).
A side story about the Brewfest. Ever since moving to Petersburg in 1999 i have wanted to expand the Oktoberfest events. There is a quilt show and an artshare/craft sale but that didn’t fulfill my vision of an Oktoberfest. I had dreamed of a 3 on 3 basketball tournament downtown in the street (we tried it one year. two teams.), a muskeg mud wrestling bout, a rain gear fashion show, and a home brew competition. Once i was on the Chamber board i presented the brewfest idea and it has gone well. The first two years it was along with a chili competition. This year is chowder.
Yesterday, while at Lux Boutique for lunch i was asked about renting my lights for a 12 year old’s birthday party. So i may be paying Cena to DJ for me and able to rent my equipment out but at least the stuff is being used. A Viking Swim Club volunteer asked me about helping make certain their PA system operates well next weekend. I think i might donate the use of my system. I can always use more write-offs.
