Today i had the day off for Alaska Day. I spent the better part of it using my Ion USB turntable to rip records directly to my computer. I have completed three out of five of the Dance Party album collection. Completed are the collections of: square dance, polka, charleston, twist, tango, and foxtrot. I still need to finish up swing, waltz, cha cha, and more foxtrot. I’m working on ripping the 1982 Ronald McDonald All Star Party album that i picked up at a thrift store while on the road with Kevin.
I also purchased and installed a Toyo Oil Miser 22 for the apartment. We have the new Monitor 2400 for our part of the house - and the radiant baseboard heat is still installed in most of the rooms. I did remove it from Beth’s bedroom when we refurbished it and from the landing when we prepped for the Monitor.
I also put some water and chemicals in the hot tub and raked leaves from most of the driveway. Still lots to do around the house before we get snow on the ground - it won’t be long.

How good is the quality of the music that comes off of those? I’ve been debating getting one, but I don’t really have enough vinyl to justify it (maybe 10 or 15 tops). Some of it I really want digitized though…

The sound is pretty good. I can’t get it to record the low end of the spectrum very well - but that tends to be a characteristic of vinyl i think.

Did you weight down the cartridge? Most DJ’s worrying about the low end of the frequency at the parties that I’ve been to would tape a quarter to the top of the cartridge. If it was a cheap one anyway.
If you try this use an old record that you don’t care about.

I used the directions provided with the turntable. Next time i fire it up i’ll put more weight on the stylus. The counterbalance is adjustable so it shouldn’t be too tough. Thanks for the tip!
