Cena had wanted to get some business cards for Lux Boutique and i found a link for 250 “free” color cards. You just pay for shipping and any extras you may want. The other day Mike was wishing he had business cards to give to people that had our phone number on them for Zoom Bikes. I just ordered 250 and it cost me $8.44. Cena’s arrived last week and they look decent. Just a step above the home printed inkjet tear-out type business cards. Go ahead – you know you want almost free business cards.

I’m in Ketchikan until Wednesday morning for a SEAtrails meeting. Don just happened to be coming through town on Saturday and he stayed the night in Petersburg so we took the same flight out on Sunday. He lives in Ketchikan now so i have a place to sleep and even a vehicle to drive because Julie is in Arizona. Our landing in Wrangell was hard – we bounced off the runway. But between Petersburg and Wrangell we had a nice tour of the Stikine delta. They had too much fuel on board so had to burn some off.
I have never read any of the Harry Potter books. I have only watched one of the movies. I do not like the Simpsons. I don’t like really short white socks. One of my ears is a little higher on my head than the other. I have a light colored birthmark on my left hip the shape of Cuba. I think i might be the rightful ruler of the country. I don’t like putting the “odd” dishes away from the dishwasher – that is, anything other than plates, bowls, glasses, and standard eating utensils. I don’t like to watch or play any major sports. I only like having my hair cut by someone that i like their hair style. It kind of bothers me when people use the word “softwares”.
Earl and Mike were smacking each other on Friday night. Fortunately they decided to perform for the camera too.
I first used web logging tools to publish to my website on March 9th, 2003. Back then it was at zieak.mitkof.net and i had been running my personal site for quite a while prior. I struggled with providing updates though. I first used Blogger and then fairly recently moved to Wordpress. I dabbled in php and xml. I added comments via Haloscan. Who knows what will happen in the next 226 days – the date of my Blogoversary.
According to this site there are 76 people in the US with the name Ryan McFarland. There are 505,044 Ryan’s in the US and 45,363 McFarland’s. I want zieak.com to become the #1 result for a google search for “ryan mcfarland”. My 43 things page is the #2 listing.
We’re in the process of booking a huge trip. Seth is getting married in Vietnam so we’re planning on going. We’ll leave Petersburg (PSG) November 15th and arrive in Singapore (SIN) on the 28th. From there we’ll take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon – SGN) where we’ll whoop it up for a few days before the wedding on December 1st. Then we’ll go to “the beach” with the family and friends until December 8th. We’ll fly back to Singapore on the 8th and head to Bali (DPS) to stay at the Peninsula Beach Resort until the 15th. We’ll zip back to Singapore to then fly through Tokyo, Japan (NRT, with about 10 hours on the ground) and Honolulu, Hawaii (HNL, 6 hours on the ground!) clear home. We’re using frequent flier miles to get from Petersburg to Singapore and from Tokyo back home ($108.60 including taxes and fees). Unfortunately the leg from Singapore to Tokyo did not have open seats for us to book with miles. The cost of that one way leg for both of us was $1,093.19. On the plus side – we change flights in Kuala Lumpur so we’ll be on the ground in five countries other than the US on the trip. I’ll also be able to scratch Hawaii off of my short list of states i have not been in. The flight from Singapore to Vietnam and back only ran us $511.79. The flight to Bali and back was just $569.79. Now we need to handle visas.
I took yesterday off to work on a video project. A few months ago, Cena and i stumbled on a video contest Ikea was putting on. I looked at the deadline and figured i might get around to it some day. Up to 10 businesses get to split a $50,000 makeover using Ikea furnishings. I looked at the page on Tuesday and saw the deadline is today. There were only 9 entries. I would kick myself if i didn’t put something together. So i involved friends with businesses; Emily’s Bakery, Tonka Seafoods, Forget-Me-Not Floral, Lux Boutique, and Zoom Bikes. So i spent the day throwing a little thing together using Cena’s digital camera and my laptop. I needed music at the last minute that wasn’t copyrighted so i used one of Iain’s songs (I gave you credit and hope you don’t mind!). It’s down and dirty but please feel free to check out my video of Petersburg, Alaska. Later i’ll be asking for you to vote for it!
