I rebuilt one half of our horseshoe pit yesterday afternoon. Two winters ago a generous friend was plowing out our driveway occasionally and he demolished it. In the past year and a half i just hadn’t given it a high enough priority until yesterday’s sunny weather combined with the need to fire up the grill and have friends over for brats and beer. I used 4×4 treated wood for the frame, cut 45 degree angles for three corners and connected them with heavy galvanized nails. I put a few layers of thick paper bags down on the grass/weeds and covered the 3 1/2 by 4 foot pit with four inches of sand. Ryan Welde helped put the stakes in.
