I awoke at 4:30 am this morning after hearing something break. I thought perhaps a potted plant near my bathtub had falled into the tub. I turned on the bathroom light to find that one of my two sliding shower doors had exploded and shattered all over the floor. No animals around, not excessively hot/cold - just whammo! The larger pieces that had already falled on the floor and in the shower were continuing to pop and break into smaller pieces. I've never heard of this before. Exactly a year and a day after your shower door shattered, mine did the same thing. We have no cats. I was in the bathroom but not in the shower. We had our glass sliding patio door shatter several years back. It was really cold one morning when I was getting ready for school. I kept hearing a strange crackling noise in the living room but couldn't figure out what it was. Right before the bus arrived, I just happened to pull back the blinds and noticed the glass pane had several thousand tiny fractures. The noise I was hearing was the glass splitting!
