Shopping for a Savings Account

I have to hang my head in shame.  I don’t have a savings account.  I have had them off and on and always just went with the bank that i had a checking account with.  It never struck me to shop around to find the best rate to earn interest on an account until Cena opened one recently.  She found a good deal and is earning at least five times more by going with a bank online than our local branch.

Interest ratesThis site collects information on savings accounts from across the web and gives it to you in layman’s terms.  Statements like “No monthly maintenance fee if you maintain a minimum $300.00 daily balance…” or “Monthly service fee $5.00” help you choose the financial institution with policies that meet your needs.  If that isn’t good enough, they also display the interest rate you’ll earn in huge numbers.  Compare the current offers of 0.5% interest rate at Wells Fargo to HSBC’s 6% (for a limited time).

Believe it or not, this was a paid site review.

i’m using paypal as my saving account… well i guess they call it a money market fund the 7-Day Average Yield is 5.05% that’s down from 5.26% last week, i really don’t expect to make any money… i just thought it’d be cool to say i have money in a money market fund.

I keep money in my paypal account - never more than a few hundred dollars but i have made 4 or 5 dollars in six months off of the interest of the various amounts. It sure doesn’t hurt!
