Image Reward claims to pay you for hosting images with them. You collect points (20 for referring a new user, 2 for each image view, 100 for signing up…) and then can redeem those points for cash later. 20,000 points is worth $10. If their servers can handle the burden of some popular services (Fark, Slashdot, Digg…) and load quickly, i foresee many people changing their image host. My blog receives 300 page loads a day during normal use. If all of my images were hosted with them and i had 10 images on a page i could be making an extra $600 per year using this service (ignoring any popular posts). I’ll give it a try for hosting my original content and see how things work.
I uploaded some of the images from my most popular pages and waited a few hours. I checked my site stats to make sure that pages with Image Reward hosted images were hit and then checked their counter for the pictures that should have hits. They show zero total views. I have sent a note asking for an explanation through the site. I sure don’t want to go through the hassle of moving images from Flickr to Image Reward or off of my own host and have them served by a site that will end up not completing their side of a deal. Or worse yet, end up losing all of the content that i upload and then force me to edit posts yet again. Consider me skeptically optimistic.
