I guess Bailee had Claire Danes say “hi” to her today which reminded me of the few celebrities that i have seen. While in the Newark airport on our way to Rochester for Christmas Cena spotted Penn Jillette in the food court we were in. He would be hard to miss because he is a big man and has a distinct voice. We went to Penn & Teller’s show while in Vegas last time and i definitely recommend it. It just so happens that on a previous trip to Vegas we saw a portion of Domino being filmed. We saw Ian Ziering and somebody else. Obviously i was starstruck. I saw Bush Sr. once - at a Boy Scout Jamboree. Who have you seen?

you’ll have to check out bailee’s latest blog post to read about my first celebrity encounter - she describes it awfully well. in 98 i was in LA for some training and saw a bevy of buxom blondes pour out of a limo followed by wee little hugh hefner (he really is very short.) in cabo san lucas i saw tim allen at squid row, and after much crowd-battling, took his hand and kissed it. kissed it! i dont even really like him or his movies, but it was TIM ALLEN. i also said “i like your show.” yeah, couldnt come up with anything better than that. at least it wasnt something about shaving my armpits…

We saw Lisa Murkowski and Morgan Spurlock at the Anchorage airport once. Vivian and I met the girl who plays Meadow on the Sopranos.
My most exciting and most recent famous-person sighting was Leonard Nugen, the now old man who formed Nugen’s Ranch in Wasilla. I went a little nuts and hugged him, but he seemed pretty accustomed to it. I have of course met Ted Sadler of Mattress Ranch fame, and Bob Mallory, whom I met at the library. As you can see, I like to endorse all local and tier-two celebrities. They feel more relevant to me.
We have now moved to Los Angeles and I’ll admit being curious when we’re in certain places, but I’m not that good at spotting people. Maybe I can get in a pregnant brawl with Courtney Love outside a sushi bar or something.

I was with a group of friends talking outside a theatre in Philly. Kevin Bacon walked right through us…we just moved aside and let him pass. No one said anything about it until after he was gone.
Robert Loggia came to MU earlier this year. I taught a class in the men’s dressing room that met during his talk. We had to clear out so he could use the restroom.
Cherry Jones was in a play I worked on the costumes for and I think I met her.
Lanford Wilson, Toni Press-Coffman, and a few other playwrights
Anne Bogart, JoAnne Akalaitis (had lunch alone with her in Rome)…these two are theatre directors well known in my world.
Joe should answer this question…I know he’s met a LOT of folks. Steven Spielberg, Robin Wright Penn (before she was a Penn), I couldn’t even begin to list, or even remember, them all.

Kev - you forgot Stephen Spielberg (also R2D2) back when you were about 10 or 11. I have pictures of you with him.
The only other one I can add is Agnes Moorehead - she came to the college I went to and gave a talk. I remember being quite impressed with her at the time.

i’m still pretty stoked so i thought i’d post it here, last night i met Lulu one of the lead vocals for the thievery corporation, most likely most people don’t know who they are but i’m sure i probably sent some tracks your way zieak. so yeah… there i was minding my own business at a party talking to GP when she came up and started talking to us, so anyway the crazy thing was that i really had no clue who she was untill she walked away and gp told me but she knew who i was and my work.
