It has been quite a long time since i bought my first PDA. I bought a green Handspring Visor Deluxe sometime in 2000. It had a whopping 8mb of memory, had a black and white screen, and i thought would last a long time because of the modules that were available for expansion. It didn’t take much more than a year before i was buying the Handspring Prism - a brilliant color screen, still the standard 8mb of memory but by then i had a module that let me use a 256mb CF card to store programs. I had other modules too - mp3 players, digital camera, voice recorder, even one that would let me connect to a computer monitor or projector to do power point presentations right from my device. I wanted the phone module but the only cell carrier in the area didn’t support GSM phones. When cellular one finally did launch a GSM network i bought a Treo600 and finally was able to combine my phone and pda. About a year later i upgraded to the Treo650 and just today moved into a brand new Treo680. This device has 64mb of internal memory and i have a 1gig memory card tucked inside. I have all of my contacts, my personal and work calendar, to-do lists, and email accounts all set up on the phone. I keep track of all of my passwords, account numbers, and every single credit card, checking account, or even auto loan payment in my phone. So a good part of tonight was spent backing up my old device and moving information to the new one and then double checking that everything moved alright.
