May 2005

I just finished sleeping 10 hours. If i bend over my head feels explosive. My cell phone has an annoying buzz almost all the time. Even when in my office which is about 75 feet from the base of the tower the cell company uses. So yesterday i finally got pissed and called for a replacement (under warranty for another two months). No big hassle because the buzzing is a known problem. The big hassle is because they ship via DHL only. And of course, the gal in India just could not get any address to work for the replacement to be shipped to. DHL apparently does not deliver to Petersburg. And PalmOne will not ship via any other method. I can usually multi-task. I had been chating with a friend online but had to focus on making sure this Indian woman spelled “Petersburg” correctly. Further complicated by my head cold – she was getting “Mitkos” out of me saying Mitkof and then spelling it out. She just kept asking me for other addresses. “Don’t you have another address to send this to?” Of course i do. I just would have to get on a jet to go retrieve it. Finally we were able to settle on shipping it to Seattle and having Cena’s mom forward it to me. Then I’ll have to send the defective unit down to her to send on for me. Of course – they must receive it within 15 days or i end up fined. I asked for a note to be put on my file to say that it may take longer than two weeks. Bah. Damn outsourcing.

I have a head cold. I’m feeling pretty cruddy. Today i slept in as late as i could and then went to work for a little while. I met up with two of my SEAtrails cronies for lunch and then drove one out to Banana Point and back. So despite my fog it wasn’t a bad day. I went back to my office and there is a live band set up in the gym and the drum practice accentuated my headache. So i went home early. On the way home i listened to the local news and found out that i’ll be working with a $60,000 grant for a new playground in Petersburg thank you to the state legislature. Some cruddy days end up pretty good.

Well, i decided to go with all four images from Time Life books for this little project that i mentioned before.

I came home a week ago or so and this was tucked into the crack of the front door…

Fortunately Frank fessed up to it on Saturday. Mystery solved!

I have received over 1,400 of the regular Scrabble tiles and a good 400 of the maroon tiles as gifts. The project ideas really are pretty stuck on tabletops.

I’m really hoping we have a better forecast for the 4th of July. This weekend is the Little Norway Festival.

I am an organ donor. But it looks like i can help out The Children’s Organ Transplant Association by sending them an old cell phone for recycling. They even send you a postage-paid mailer. Sign up here.
