Record player repair
I bought a record player at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago for $5 but it didn’t have a needle so i wasn’t able to get it to work. I returned it and recently purchased another for $10. This one had a needle and played records but the counterbalance to the needle arm had been broken off so the needle housing scraped on the record as it spun – destroying the sound quality. So i built a new counterbalance…

It is a little crude but works quite well. The Salvation Army currently has a nice 8-track recorder/player there now but i don’t have any 8 tracks. I don’t have many records either but i did score Def Leppard’s Pyromania album and the soundtrack to Flashdance for ten cents each. I have quite a few others also but they really will only be kept for ripping samples from.

i have a place that sells brand new 8-track tapes… been wanting for a while to start that collection but i think i need to buy my building for my current collections first.
too bad I don’t still have the 8-track you (or Kevin, or was it both of you?) gave me for christmas when we were kids.
hahahahahaha! I think that was from both of us. Thank you for remembering!
mwahahaha! i forgot about that.
you can return at the salvation army? that doesn’t seem right…
We just purchased a General Electric Record Player am fm console from Goodwill. The only ID I can find is a ink stamp on the wood frame “2W14″.
The problem we are having is the record arm will come over to the record but will not go down to the record. And then it will turn it self off. There is no manual setting. Any suggestions?
