I thought of a product today… a light switch that will receive an infrared signal from a remote. So i could sit down to watch a movie, get all settled and then point my remote at the light switch and turn off the lights. When done i don’t have to stumble over the cats to be able to see - just a click of a universal remote and the lights could be on. Well, fortunately this exists - and it’s only $30.
I have had quite a few other ideas that i’m glad are commercially available so i don’t need to create them. Another was a constellation system for a ceiling using LED or fibre optics to light the stars. This is availble too.
For $30 i’ll some day just buy a few of the IR controlled light switches. But some day i’ll install a constellation system of my own - hopefully for a bit less than the ones i found online tonight.

oooh…that would be so cool! i hate it when i’m watching tv in bed then suddenly realize i’m tired and would rather sleep BUT then i’d have to stand up and walk to switch the lights off. Argh!!! too bad the only infrared signal-laden device that i have around here is my phone. and it’s not all that great either — transferring photos from my phone to my computer takes too damn long! oh well, guess my legs would have to get used to the “exercise” ’til i get one of those things shipped here. hahaha! =p
