I took on a new project for the house today. I should just take pictures to share but a few words for now will help. There is a 60′ distance between the house’s front steps and the shed. half of that distance is just gravel. the other half is lawn and a river gravel walkway. unfortunately the river gravel walkway does not work well with a dog sprinting for sticks and toys to fetch. so i have wanted to replace it with something that a lawnmower can go over fairly easily (without hazard of flinging rocks), is not slick when wet, is low maintenance, and looks nice. I found it. Old sidewalk pieces. The state is replacing a stretch of sidewalk and has broken up some concrete making irregular chunks that are all about 5 inches thick. So i’ll dig them in and plant grass seed in between and have exactly what i need. And it will look pretty darn good too. I’m doing something similar from the other deck to the driveway. but i’m using natural stone from one of the rock pits for that and putting the river gravel between the large stepping stones. Now i just need to actually complete a few of these projects. I still have not finished the fence i started in the fall. I did finish pressure washing the big deck today though.

This sounds great ~ I’d love to see pictures. True landscaping impresses me. My dad used to get loaded and pour concrete into the lawn to anchor down homemade ‘bridges’ over the ditches that ran through our yard. It was rather Homer Simpson of him; I wonder if it’s still there. Dads rock.
